SMALL GROUP Storytelling & Creativity Workshops

For Adults, Youth & Teens

My name is Janna, and my work is unique! I teach people how to listen, communicate, create and connect better, using the tools of Applied Improvisation and Storytelling. As a 17-year teacher of improvisation, writing and performance, I co-founded the storytelling programs at The Second City Training Center and at Chicago Dramatists. As a coach and facilitator of creative group process work, I teach in the Leadership Studio at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and the Innovation Academy at the University of Notre Dame. In private practice, I help speakers (like TED Talkers, Moth Grand Slam winners, tech innovators, ministers and attorneys) tell more moving, entertaining, inspiring stories, and I work with organizations (like Moen, AllState, Baltimore Air Coil, NetSuite, LinkedIn and many others) to spark inspired collaboration. I produce a beloved & long-running live storytelling show called Here, Chicago

For many years, I've coached and taught both online and in person. During this time of social distancing, I'm finding that live online classes and workshops are not only providing a valuable means for continued learning, but a vital source of laughter, play and connection for people of who are stuck at home. For these reasons, I'm offering a series of low-cost online classes and workshops during pandemic time. I'm also offering those who have financial means an opportunity to support those who don't. Purchasing a Class Pass for a stranger, friend, or family member is a direct and loving way to support someone struggling with social isolation and loss of income. Below the registration form, you can learn more about the Class Pass, and about my work.

Remote Team-Building workshops for Organizations

Applied Improvisation and Applied Storytelling workshops strengthen connection, respect, trust, and genuine warm rapport among colleagues. Unlike seminars, remote Improv & Storytelling workshops held live over Zoom are designed for learning through playful discovery. These workshops are interactive, dynamic, and full of laughter. They can be used to connect and strengthen teams or classes working remotely, or to build specific skills that ignite innovation within a company. Learn more.
